Nottinghamshire First Class Debut – 15 September 2014 v Sussex (Trent Bridge)
Jake Libby has now established himself at the top of the Nottinghamshire batting order. The right-handed Cornishman played in all 14 championship matches last term, registering a century against Glamorgan in Cardiff, his fourth in first class cricket.
He made a spectacular start to life in the county first team, hitting 108 on debut in 2014, making the then 21-year old the first Nottinghamshire player since 1946 to score a debut century in a championship match.
A productive winter of grade cricket in Tasmania would follow, although the adventure came at a cost in the form of an anterior cruciate ligament injury and subsequent operation.
After returning from a lengthy lay-off, he bounced back in style in 2016 scoring a ton against Derbyshire, whilst on a productive short loan spell with Northants.
Back with Notts, he reeled off a series of promising contributions in the second half of that season, including a terrific knock of 144 against Durham at Chester-le-Street.
A product of Callington Cricket Club of the Cornwall Premier League, Libby's first-class debut came for Cardiff MCCU in April 2014 having already gained experience in Minor Counties cricket with his native county.
